Well I am impressed. I certainly think that two years old is within the normal range for children to begin counting. Certainly Lara is able to point to consecutive items and correlate a number to them. What stunned me, however, is her apparent grasp of the numbers and their Spanish counterparts. I am standing next to her in the kitchen the other day when she began counting plastic cups in Spanish. At first I thought I was hearing things and asked here to count them again. Smiling Lara began to count in English. Letting her finish counting up to ten I then asked her if she could count them in Spanish. A serious look on her face, she proceded to count "Uno, Dos, Tres ...". I was impressed.
