On Saturday, Lara and I went to Debra's baby shower. Here is Great Aunt Debra getting in some practice before baby Lanzone comes in September!

So, PJ was off to work this morning at 6, and Lara and I began our final week at home together. We have some errands to run today---mommy needs some appropriate school clothes! I hope I find a few items to start off the school year nicely.

Day 2 of digging and setting fence posts. Wow... all I have to say is WOW! I am so sore. Since Lara was born the labor around the house has been light. Sure we are exhausted and worn thin from making the adjustment to parenthood... but lets face the facts. Before Lara was born I, along with uncle Kevin, were working like madmen to finish up the 2nd floor of the house. We were lifting and installing sheets of drywall, sanding for hours at a time, cleaning up construction debris, painting and repainting. Since the birth .... well the heaviest thing I have lifted was my 11 pound bundle of joy. Thank goodness grand pop pop Mark was here to aid with the excavation. It should have been simple. Dig a hole, set a post, mix some concrete and walk away. But no, rocks have become my nemesis. It isn't clear to me how 4 cubic feet of rock is removed from a 2 cubic foot hole. I assure you it is possible, however. Despite the opposition we completed what we set out to do. Next the panels have to be hung. After the digging ordeal, however, that should be a breeze.

So, for two nights in a row, Lara has slept for 8 hours! Last night, she slept 9:15- 5:30. Maybe she knows Mommy and Daddy are about to start work again and she is being kind.

At 8 weeks, Lara weighs 11 pounds. She is 22 1/2 inches long. Lara is able to hold her head up for a short time and enjoys looking at everything around her. She is sleeping between 5 and 6 hours a night usually, which is pretty good for us. Tonight, we are trying her in the crib for the first time. She has outgrown the bassinet! Sorry for lack of picture for this post, they are all on PJ's computer and I'm on the laptop...will post some tomorrow hopefully.
